MARY TALKS: Dr. Julius Esunge on "The Ubiquitous Pi"

Join us online for our next Mary Talk!

On the day after Pi Day, we will hear from Julius Esunge, Ph.D., professor and chair of mathematics at UMW. Join us on Wednesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. (Eastern) as Dr. Esunge presents "The Ubiquitous Pi."

What is pi? And why is it everywhere? We can answer these questions by exploring common constructs--such as circles, angles, number systems, and patterns--to reveal how, where, and why pi shows up. Together, we’ll discover interesting properties, like the interplay between circles and measurement of angles. Both ideas directly relate to the existence of this number called pi and will show us why pi is so important and where else it appears.
