Mary Talks: Paul Binkley (Online)

Join us ONLINE for the next Mary Talk of the 2019-20 academic year.

This year's series continues with Dr. Paul Binkley, executive director of UMW's Center for Career and Professional Development, presenting "Designing Your Life During and After COVID-19."

This is a time of great change and uncertainty: the economy is in a tailspin, job losses or furloughs are increasing, and social distancing is taking a toll on the mental health of many people. Looking at the COVID-19 crisis through the lens of Design Thinking principles, Dr. Binkley will discuss why he is optimistic for graduating seniors entering the workforce and those currently in the workforce facing difficult challenges. His presentation will cover the importance of having empathy for ourselves, following our curiosity, becoming immune to failure, and practicing radical collaboration. He will also share some ideas and resources helpful for job searches and career development.

To watch the Talk online, register here. You then will receive a link to the streaming video, which can be watched live or at a later time. You also will have the opportunity to submit questions to be asked of the speaker at the end of the Talk.

Note: Online viewing is the only option for this Mary Talk, as we are not conducting any in-person events at this time.
